Entertainment Marketing and Personal Branding
Michael Briggs Images also works across the entertainment sector, including actors, dancers, singers, musicians, and bands. Over the years, I’ve found that photographing performers is rarely just about taking a good picture. There is usually a story sitting just beneath the surface.
I remember working with performers who arrived in front of the camera looking completely comfortable on stage, yet suddenly became a little uncertain when the attention shifted to them. It happens more often than you might think.
A dancer who can command an entire studio can feel awkward during the first few minutes of a portrait session. A musician who is completely at home in front of thousands of people may not know what to do when there is no microphone in their hands.
“So we talk. We take a little time And eventually, something changes.”
The shoulders relax. The expression becomes natural. The performer stops thinking about the camera and starts being themselves. That’s usually when the interesting photographs begin to appear.
For me, that’s the part of entertainment photography I enjoy most. I’m not simply looking for a technically perfect photograph. I’m looking for the moment when someone’s personality comes through.
With actors, that might be a quiet expression that hints at a character without actually becoming one. With dancers, it can be the instant before or after movement—the tension in a hand, the position of the body, the look in their eyes.
With singers and musicians, sometimes the best photograph isn’t the big performance shot at all. It might be a much quieter image backstage, in a rehearsal room, or sitting with an instrument between takes.
Bands can be particularly interesting because there is another layer to consider. You aren’t photographing one personality. You’re photographing a group dynamic. Who naturally takes the lead? Who is more reserved? How do they interact when they aren’t performing?
Those little things can completely change the feel of an image.
And that is why I don’t approach every entertainment session in exactly the same way. There isn’t a formula that works for everyone. The photographs need to reflect the person—or the group—in front of the camera.
Sometimes the strongest image is carefully planned and sometimes it happens completely by accident.
But when everything comes together and the photograph feels like the performer rather than simply a photograph of the performer, that’s when I know we’ve got something worthwhile.
Corporate Sales and Marketing
Corporate photography represents another major part of what I do, and in some ways, it can be more interesting than people expect.
When someone hears “corporate photography,” they might picture the usual office portrait: someone standing against a plain wall, looking serious, wearing a suit. There is nothing wrong with that kind of photograph when it is needed. But a company is rarely just a collection of people in suits.
There are people behind the business. There are places, ideas, products, conversations, and thousands of small details that tell the real story.
I’ve photographed executives who needed a strong, professional portrait for a company website, but I’ve also photographed employees working together, offices filled with activity, facilities and production spaces, corporate events, products, and the everyday moments that give an organization its character.
Sometimes the most effective image isn’t the carefully posed executive portrait. It might be a team caught in conversation, a designer concentrating on a project, or a busy workspace that immediately gives someone outside the company a sense of what happens there.
That matters because people form opinions quickly
Before a potential customer ever calls a company, they may have already visited its website. They may have seen a LinkedIn post, a brochure, an advertisement, a presentation, or a recruitment page. In many cases, the photographs are helping create that first impression before anyone has spoken to them.
And first impressions are difficult to take back
This is where I see professional photography as part of communication rather than simply decoration. A well-made photograph can make a company feel established, approachable, creative, technically capable, or highly professional. The choice depends on the company and the message it wants to communicate.
Think of it this way: if a business spends years building a reputation, developing its products, training its people, and earning the trust of its customers, why represent all of that with generic stock photography?
Original photography gives a company something different. It shows the actual people. The actual workplace. The actual products and environment.
It gives customers something real to look at
For Michael Briggs Images ~ A Tokyo Private Photographer, that is the philosophy behind corporate work. I want the photographs to look professional, certainly—but I also want them to feel believable. A company should be recognizable in its own images.
Because good marketing begins with good communication.
And sometimes, the right photograph can communicate in a second what an entire page of text struggles to explain.
Photography as a Sales Tool
One of the greatest strengths of Michael Briggs Images Tokyo Private Photographer is the understanding that photography should contribute to a client’s commercial objectives.
A photograph can become:
A sales presentation
A website banner
A social media campaign
A magazine advertisement
A corporate brochure
A product promotion
A hotel booking image
A press release
A personal brand
A customer acquisition tool
Corporate photography is another important part of what I do, assisting businesses show the people, places, products, and personality behind their organization. From executive portraits and teams to offices, events, and facilities, I create professional images that feel authentic and give clients a clearer sense of who they are dealing with.
That distinction is important.
The best commercial photography communicates in an instant, giving people a clear sense of the product, the atmosphere, and the brand behind it. A strong image can create curiosity, build trust, and make someone stop scrolling long enough to take a closer look..
Hotels, Resorts, and Hospitality Marketing
Hospitality photography is about showing more than a beautiful room or impressive building—it’s about giving people a feeling for what their stay might actually be like. From hotels and resorts to restaurants, interiors, amenities, and surrounding destinations, I create images that help potential guests imagine themselves there and, hopefully, make them want to book.
Video: Expanding the Marketing Message
Today, businesses often need more than great photographs—they need video that tells the same story in motion. Michael Briggs Images & Tokyo Private Photographer combines both, helping clients create consistent visual content for websites, social media, presentations, advertising, events, hospitality, and promotional campaigns.

Tokyo Travel Photographers
Travel photography has always been an important part of my work, because every place has its own character, people, atmosphere, and story. That same way of looking at the world shapes everything I do for clients: a fashion designer may need style, a corporation credibility, a performer personality, a hotel atmosphere, and an entrepreneur a strong personal brand. After more than two decades in Tokyo, I’ve learned that successful photography starts with understanding people—and creating images that reflect who they are and what they want to communicate.
Tokyo Vacation Photographer
As a travel vacation photographer, I’ve always enjoyed capturing the places, people, and unexpected moments that make a trip memorable. As a private photographer in Tokyo, I bring that same personal approach to commissions, while my work since 2000 has grown into a broader sales, marketing, photography, and visual communications resource covering fashion, runway, sports, dance, acting, entertainment, corporate work, hospitality, resorts, private assignments, and video production.
The goal is simple: Assist people, companies, and brands communicate more effectively through strong visual content—and in a world where attention is increasingly difficult to capture, the right image can start a conversation, create a connection, build a reputation, or even lead to a sale.
